BYC, 2018 Week 1 Monday

Back Yard Club has begun!

Each day we have stories and songs at the rug, followed by 45 minutes of free-choice art projects.  Besides the choices you see below, we always have painting, along with crayon, chalk, and dry erase drawing at the easels under the tent

Today our art project choices were

Object prints
Lacing cards
Popsicle stick puppets
Free-play with clay

I  feel so happy as I watch the empty clothes lines finally fill up with beautiful art!

Next, we split up into two groups and went on a leaf scavenger hunt.
We looked for different shapes, colors, and sizes.

We also managed to sneak in a game of "guess the animal."  This time the kids were coming over to me pretending to be snakes.  There was an abundance of hissing!

For our dancing time we did some traditional folk dances under our purple ash tree. We tried The Chicken Dance from Germany, Seven jumps from Sweden, and Jump Jim Joe from the USA.

At the end of each morning we end up back at the rug for another song or two and to say goodbye!

It was a wonderful first day of camp!
