BYC, week 2, Friday
Welcome to Friday!
Today our project choices included
foil painting
bracelets with pony beads
shakers
salt dough free play
Some shenanigans going on at the paper bowl shakers center.
After snack we painted with water in the front.
It's fun to watch what happens with the water on different surfaces. Sometimes it disappears!
Next we practiced our play complete with the scenery.
We then danced some old favorites--Farmer in the Dell, London Bridge, and Floating Down the River.
And of course, the picnic and play!

BYC, week 2, Thursday
Today we sang a fan favorite, Sleep Song!
There's a lullaby and then some silliness in waking up and getting ready for school.
Today's art choices were
dip 'n' dye
group project--weaving on a giant loom
bean collages
salt dough free play
Sometimes you need three brushes.
After art and snack we painted the scenery for our play!
We ran through our story twice (the kids are getting great at remembering the unique phrases in this book!) and painted our scenery for the play.
Next we headed over for some fun with the parachute.
An ostrich, a t-rex, and a panda!
And here are our teachers!
Claire, Charlotte, Aubrey, Morgan, Katie, Myself, Eliza, and Tyler
See you tomorrow!

BYC, week 2, Wednesday
Today's projects included
bubble wrap prints
weaving looms with yarn
paper plate masks
clay free play
Look at all these little working hands!
After art and snack we learned more about how helpful an oak tree is. Today we talked about a neat strategy tree crickets use to amplify their sounds when they call for a mate. They eat a hole in a leaf, about as big as the size of both wings combined. They place their head near the hole, tip their wings over the hole, and rub them together. This makes a bigger sound!
So we called out "Hey, is anybody out there!?" using some tools humans use to amplify sounds!
A toy echo microphone, a cone, and a tube!
Here are the tree crickets chirping with their wings tipped waaay over their heads!
Tyler shows off a very large oak leaf!
Last, we saw pictures of inchworm sticks, caterpillars that mimic sticks to blend in and protect themselves. The kids gathered sticks to see what these bugs were mimicking. So yes, now you understand why it was very important they took a few sticks home at the end of the day!
(Also you'll see an acorn piece in their bag from yesterday's oak tree lesson.)
Next we practiced The Gunniwolf. We can't wait to act it out for you!
We finished up the day with Seven Jumps and Jump Jim Joe. The latter is done with an inner and outer circle, which was successful and a lot of fun!
See you tomorrow!
