BYC 2020, week 2, Friday

Happy Friday everyone!

First off, I quick snapped a few pictures during David Landau's "Sleep Song." We always gets some giggles when I sing the children a lullaby and mistake them for porcupines or dolphins or beavers!

Just chillin' with a story.

Off we go to art time!  Our choices today were:

Mono prints
Leather pouches
Popsicle stick puppets
Wikki Stix sculptures

Crayon, and marker drawings replaced painting at the easels today.

A happy face theme it seems.

Water painting was after snack!  Water painting is so fun, relaxing, and easy...definitely try this at home!

Luella paints and prints the bottom of her shoe.
As she explained it, "I had an idea so I had to get it out!"

We had a lot of fun dancing and practicing our play today!

And...the stage is set!

The billy goats' rocky home.

And the beautiful grassy hillside!

Thank you all for coming to our picnic and play!

These kids did great being brave billy goats and tough trolls!

We had a wonderful week playing, creating, and exploring!
We hope you enjoy the rest of your summer!

BYC 2020, week 2, Thursday

We had a lovely, cool day today!
Our project choices were

Butterfly painting
God's eyes
Mosaics
Clay--coil pots

After snack we painted the scenery for our play!  We worked on a rocky mountain, a grassy hillside, and some lovely flowers for the billy goats.

We decided to slow it down for a leisurely nature walk using our "telescopes" we made yesterday.  But first we looked at some caterpillars found in the yard.  We then made our way to the milkweed to see if we could spot a few more.

On our walk we also found 2 toads, some cool beetles, frogs, vole tunnels, frog holes, 2 dragonflies, a moth, and loads of crickets!

Elise is looking closely at a petal from a monkey flower.

OH and what happened across the street?
A whole flock of geese wandered in and got a lot to eat from our neighbor's lawn!

So we sat down and watched.

What a nice walk we had!  So much nature to appreciate nearby.

Last, we enjoyed some dancing!  Did you know these kids still LOVE Ring Around the Rosie!  See if they can sing you the "standing up" verse!  It starts, "Cows in the meadow, eating buttercups!"

We also danced to "Floating Down the River" where we have repeated slow quiet sections, and boisterous choruses of jumping and clapping.

For your viewing pleasure...early this morning my daughter (and BYC helper), Eliza, found and photographed this beautiful red-spotted purple butterfly in our painting tent.

Oh, and a few goofy pictures just for fun!
