BYC 2021, week 2, Monday

Welcome to Back Yard Club everyone!

Each day we begin with stories and songs up front.  We then have free-choice art time.  Easel painting and drawing are available every day, along with drawing with chalk. We also have 4 additional projects the kids can make, with nature books to look at if they finish early.

Today's projects were:

Marble painting
Medallion necklaces with names
Paper bag puppets
Free-play clay

Snack time!

We split into two groups and each group got time to take a "back yard animals" nature walk
as well as explore items in our nature collection.

This monarch butterfly feeding at the swamp milkweed was a great start to our nature walk.

Found a caterpillar on a leaf too.

We checked out a wasps nest,

saw evidence of voles,

found where frogs dig holes for hibernation, walked over the bridge where rabbits hide, and peeked in the tree where squirrels have nested.

At the nature centers we had bones, feathers, rocks, bugs, many varieties of seeds, and fur to see and feel.

Next we introduced our story of the week, Caps for Sale.  You'll be seeing that on Friday. :)
Last, we danced Farmer in the Dell.

It was a great day...see you all tomorrow!
