Week 2, Tuesday

Hello everyone!

Today's art choices were

 Dip 'n' dye
TP tube telescopes
(to be used in a nature walk tomorrow)
Paper bag puppets
Play dough free play

Here we go!

After snack we read a book called Some Bugs and talked about the parts of an insect.  Our friend Joisah even shared a song with all the parts in it!  We made a few drawings in a mini-book to practice the head, thorax, and abdomen.

After that, we explored the yard in small groups and looked for bugs.  There are so many...the cupplant has hundreds of tiny red beetles, earwigs love to hide in the tight leaves and buds at the tops of the tall plants, flies and bees and moths are aplenty!

We practiced our play today, even trying out some blocking. :)

In honor of our story, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Olivia brought a caterpillar on a milkweed leaf to share.  So neat! Thanks, Olivia!  That little guy chewed a hole in the leaf just like he does in the book.

Last we danced The Noble Duke of York and squeezed in a short round of London Bridge is Falling Down. Funny...some kids HOPE to get caught and others flee trying to be far far away at the end!

Looking forward to more fun tomorrow!
