BYC, week 2, Tuesday

 Today our art choices were

butterfly painting
god's eyes
popsicle stick puppets
clay pinch pots with stamps for design

Happy birthday to Claire!

Independently looking at nature books with the last few minutes of art time.

Today we took off like rocket ships to get back to the blankets for snack.

3...2...1...

...blastoff!!

After snack we gathered under the oak tree to talk about some unique things that happen on an oak tree. First, we talked about how some caterpillars use oak leaves to hide from predators. They may fold the leaf over them, roll up in it, hide between two leaves fastened with their silk, or make a silk web on one to hide under.

Eliza took this nice cozy picture. :)

I'm folding one caterpillar in a "leaf."

And this one is between two leaves and attaching them together with silk.

We all spun this silk web and the little caterpillars hid under it a few at a time.
So far all caterpillars have evaded hungry birds!

We also discussed a certain insect that use acorns as a vital part of their life cycle!
See if your kids can tell you anything about weevils!

We danced "7 Jumps" again and added "Floating Down the River."
Last, we practiced saying the words for "The Gunniwolf."

It was a beautiful day, see you tomorrow!
