2016 week 1, Monday through Wednesday

Hi everyone!  We are having a great time with all your munchkins!
Here's what we've been up to:

Monday

Every day begins and ends with songs and stories.
Afterward, in the morning, we jump into
45 minutes of free-choice art time!

We always have painting and drawing easels open.

Today's other projects were:

Marble painting
Weaving on a cardboard loom
Paper sack puppets
Pinch Pots

After snack we went on a bug walk and recorded bugs we saw in our mini bug books!
We saw moths, ants, flies, spiders, dragonflies, and even a cicada.
Of course, we got out our cicada exoskeletons we found a previous year from our nature box
and showed the kids--so cool!

Next we heart The Gunniwolf, the story we will be acting out for you on Friday!

We ended the day with a couple folk dances...

The Chicken Dance and
Jump Jim Joe

Tuesday

Hey, the camera came out of the box today!  Here's everyone!

"Wave hi to your Moms!"

Today's projects included:

Dip'n'dye
Sewing cards
Paper plate masks
Coil pots

We went on a nature walk and looked for small treasures.  We placed pine needles, petals, leaves, grasses, and other tiny treasures in contact paper, added a bit of sparkle, and made window hangings.

We didn't quite get to the yarn handles, so if you want to add one, you can hang it up and let the sun shine through!

We tried our hand at acting out The Gunniwolf, then danced under the tent!

Row Row Row Your Boat
Floating Down the River
London Bridge

Wednesday

Today's projects were

Veggie Prints
Bean Frames (to be completed tomorrow)
Bracelets/wristbands
Ooblick

Today we split into two groups for a little while--

The younger group played an animal acting and guessing (and running around) game
followed by painting with water on the driveway! (That's one to do at home!)

The older group sewed leather pouches and read a book
about how to find the perfect rock-friend!

We danced our dances from the last couple days,
had some water (again), and called it a day!

See you tomorrow!
